Jaime Guiscafré Biography
Jaime Guiscafré in 1986 shared an Emmy for composing and performing the
sound track for the PBS documentary, Hispanic Mosaic.
He has made six recordings with the celebrated Latin American music ensemble,
Sotavento on Redwood Records and Discos Pueblo.
In 1993 Guiscafre premiered Partita for Guitar by British composer David Hush
in Chicago for the Dame Myra Hess concert series.
During March of 2001 the premiere Of Guiscafré's work Villancico for mixed
choir and guitar was performed in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In addition to his
solo and ensemble performances throughout North, South America and parts of
Europe, Guiscafré has collaborated with composer Roscoe Mitchell, and
multimedia artist Enrique Rueda. In 1999 he independently released
"7 Latin American Composers,"
and in 2002 "New Music for Guitar on NEXTAGEM records.
Guiscafré currently teaches at Clarke College, Iowa.
